Lets look at the new Scruffs Switchback 3 safety boots, this is the third generation safety series and are some of the best work boots I have worn. Although classed as steel toe cap boots, these have an aluminium safety cap and a composite puncture-resistant sole, making these Scruffs safety boots very lightweight. This new enhanced updated version of the Scruffs Switchback safety boot is lighter and better looking than its predecessors and definitely has an improved build quality and styling.

The high spec S3 Waterproof safety boot also is antistatic and has a mid-ankle height. The safety boots water-resistant upper and composite midpalate for lightweight, flexible protection from sole puncture. The sole is constructed from rubber and provides exceptional slip-resistant for safe working, the sole unit is also resistant against oil, so ideal for mechanical and engineering purposes. Durable moulded toe protects against scuffs reducing the wear if you are working on your knees. The Poron insole provides extra cushioning for added underfoot comfort, with Micro-fresh® technology that prevents the growth of mould and reduces odours.

The scruffs switchback has always been iconic, one of the sorts of safety boots you just can’t help but pick up, the modern style has always been an attraction for the fashion conscious but this new 3rd generation boot still carries the baseball boot feel yet now feels stronger and better constructed.
The finish is exceptional and the colour match of the boot’s main leather to the top cap is a great match, the soft side of the leather as the upper looks and feels soft but durable. I have worn these for the past week whilst working in my garden and they are not only waterproof safety boots but also very comfortable, the padded cuff around the collar meant that there was no wearing in or rubbing. In conclusion, the guys at Scruffs have done well and at around £65, this boot is bang on target for a great value and great quality pair of safety boots.
