Solid Gear Revolution 2 GTX Safety Trainer – Could this be the most comfortable safety trainer on the market? I put them to the test.
When I first saw the new solid gear safety trainers I was impressed with the styling, so many safety trainers try to be lightweight but fall short quickly with the quality of the product when they sacrifice products that make them more durable in aid to help reduce the overall weight of the product. However this is not the case with the newest edition of the Revolution safety trainer, I knew from my previous pair of the first generation that these had a lot to live up to as these had lasted extremely well and carried on with their comfort until the end. This newly released version of the revolution trainer from Solid Gear is in my opinion on a new higher level again, packing loads of new features and adding to the sustainability of the product.
During one of the hottest weeks of the year so far I decided in my infinite wisdom to refit my YouTube studio as I was now taking the next step in working full time as a content creator, my first batch of products delivered was a new range of summer or hot climate workwear from Snickers and in my bundle of goodies was a new pair of Solid Gear Revolution 2 GTX TRainers along with some new Snickers LiteWork trousers and a couple of tops, one cool breathable neon T-shirt and a Short sleeve summer hoodie, all the products can be found at the bottom of this review.
The new safety trainers are not only stylish with their Navy and Orange trim but I noticed the GORE-TEX® branding across the side, these have the new Stretch technology allowing freedom of movement and of course 100% waterproof and superior breathability.
GORE-TEX® is a thin, perforated membrane. Its pores are 20,000 times smaller than water droplets, but 700 times larger than water molecules. This means that water vapour can pass through the membrane, but it blocks drops of water. GORE-TEX® is 100% waterproof and has a highly effective feature allowing feet to breathe.
The ETPU Midsole provides endless cushioning and is cleverly created from a mixture of pressure heat and steam to create this springy sole unit, that is bonded to the shoe body and the SRC rubber antislip sole unit. The low profile tread keeps picking up debris to a minimum and aids the weight of the trainer too, keeping this lightweight, you won’t feel like you have been dragging your feet all day. I wore these for a week in my YouTube studio refit and I didn’t notice they were safety trainers and neither could I feel the toe cap when bending down.
A few features that also improve the fit is the inbuild neoprene style sock with pull-on straps at the front and back of the trainer, once you slip them on you can quickly fasten them with the speed lacing toggle, this provided me with a secure fit around the top of my foot. The Heel counter is made with ocean waste such as fishing nets and so on and this just adds to the sustainability of the product.
The insole has a highly breathable PU foam insole from its OrthoLite® system, coupled with an antistatic discharge too in the shape of the S from the Solid gear logo.
The flexible fabric that covers the top of the trainer is made from lightweight CORDURA® together with GORE-TEX® Stretch Technology provides an amazing feeling in terms of fitting and breathability while keeping your foot dry.
Using modern high-tech materials, Solid Gear has shown that quality, strong safety footwear can be lightweight, sporty shoes with great comfort and design, without compromising on safety. If you are unsure if these are right for you, then Solid gear also offers a buy and wear for 30 days, if you don’t like them they will collect and credit your account for future purchases.
I for one am converted and I will be wearing my new Revolution 2 GTX safety trainers from now on.
